Speaker hookup?

I recently replaced some stock speakers with an amp and aftermarket speakers..just curious what the result would be if i mixed up the pos and neg wires from the speaker to the amp? Would they work? what would happen? I don't think I did but I am just curious, in case I did. Thanks

Most of the time you wouldn't hear a difference -- it would be out of phase though, and might cause issues with the other speakers in your setup that are in phase.

Nope (polarity isn't really an issue w/ AC current) - when they're out of phase though with other speakers in the car, there COULD be some cancellation in sounds since cones on one side could potentially be moving out while cones on the other side in...but the way our systems are setup, I don't think that's likely at all unless we are talking about sail panel speakers. Chances still...you wouldn't be able to tell -- that's just the theory - but bass may be more accurate with the proper polarity.

if they are out of polarity there will be bass cancelation

easiest thing is to pop speaker grills off and see if the speakers are movin in or out on bass
