Default Kicker Comp V.S. L7

I want to get rid of my 2 12 inch kicker comps and put in one 8 inch kicker L7. I have a kicker ZX250.2 amp. Would the 8 inch L7 be as loud or louder than the 2 comps?

I want the 8 inch sub simply for the reason i dont want that much extra weight in my trunk so i want a small sub that has the same potential as the two 12s. and i will eventualy upgrade the amp to a zx450.2

12s push allot of air. I'm telling you, replaceing the pair of 12" comps to one 8" L7, you are going to be disapointed.

You'll have to make up for the 12s with a big box and bigger amp, which will just add the weight back on

8s can get very loud, but you have to REALLY know how to build a box for them.

CDT had the EF-8 subs on sale for awhile for $60.00. They have a carbon fiber cone and a cast basket with 300watt handling. They are single voice coil however if that matters to you. Insane price for a very nice 8in. sub. I put some in my sail panels. Here's some pics.

I guess everyone's different. I personally would take 130db at 32 hz anyday over 140db at 40hz. It's just easier to reproduce lower frequencies with larger subs. It's doesn't apply to every setup up, but you get the point.
