6x9s In the back
i just did this a couple weeks ago, i cut all the plastic around the small peaker left the tabs for the cover and then zip tied the speaker to the tabs i didn't cut off, (ghetto yes i know) but the speakers were no good cut and spliced the wires and they work good, thing is tho the drivers side doesn't fit so well so you gott move the speaker around a bit. passenger fits real nice
I wouldn't do it, sure it would fit, but then you would have rattle and soundstage would be off. I added infinity 62.7i's in my 02 Z28 and they sound really really good up front. Fit like stock and no mods needed, even work perfect with the stock amp. I removed the rear hatch 4 inch speakers and used the wire to power the highs on the 62.7i's I put in the sailpanel. They are a little bright behind my head, so I put the fade to the front more. Very happy with the current setup off the stock monsoon amp now. If you want better sound back there, get something like a 6 1/2, but I would make a box to put it in to direct the sound out.

Kind of a different way to do it, but I am in the process of building my sub box and wanted some bass in the mean time, and my friend had a pair of 6x9's that I convinced him to loan me, and they were in "boxes" similar to a subwoofer box, only for 6x9's. So I pulled off the hatch panels, and in a matter of about 30 mins, installed the 6x9s facing each other on the flat area over the fuel tank. They sit up next to the panels which house the 4" speakers and look almost stock. I then used velcro to hold the boxes in place, and as of yet I've had NO trouble whatsoever. This is only for the time being, as I'm going for a SQ system and am just waiting to put my JL subs in, so this setup is temporary. I'll try to post pics in the morn
