Default Sound deadening

I just went out and bought 5 cans of undercoat, and i've got 26 sq ft of edead and i was wondering what's gonna do me the best as far as reducing road noise. I was thinking of putting a couple square feet around each speaker and the rest in the trunk, and then undercoating the rest of the passenger compartment to cut down noise as much as i can without buying more roll on stuff..that will come later. Suggestions?

well, I know the doors in and out helped ALOT. As far as anything else, Its hard to say when youve covered teh whole interior at least once. Maybe someone can chime in whose done it in sections at a time.

Doors and speakers would be my first bet.

How exactly did you do the doors? Did you get it to actually stick to the fiberglass from the inside of the car, or did you like stick it over the clear plastic gaurd that goes on the door, or in place of it or what?

Take down the clear plastic thing and hit the inside of the door skin. Be careful that you do not cover up the weep holes at the bottom, otherwise the door wont drain water properly. You can also hit the inner door skin pieces and then be sure to put the clear plastic piece back up.

You mean with the eDead instead of in the trunk, or with undercoating?

Went ahead and spent today working on this. I put probably about 5ft^2 in each door since it seemed to be the biggest contributer to road noise. Then i just cruised around the car knocking on everything and put edead where it seemed to resonate the most. Then i sprayed the whole thing down with undercoat and used all 5 cans easily..probably should have got more.

hopefully i'll notice a difference once i get the car back together.

A good layer of sound deadening will make some huge changes.
I put down 160sq/ft of it in my car followed by 16sq/yds of sound deadening foam.
Here's some pictures of my install last year.

I'm also doing body work, so getting the interior back together isn't top priority right now. I got everything back in but the seats and doorpanels, and listened to my stereo a bit, and it sounds a hundred times better. Hopefully it will be a bit quieter on the road as well..

Where did you put all that foam, projectcamaro? After reading that link it looks like that is what is going to reduce road noise the most. i've got some spray foam that i could put it areas if you can recommend me some.

Is 36 sq ft too much for the doors? I was looking at secondskin and planned on using Damplifier and Overkill for the doors. They stated it is best to line the inside of the door and the inside of the outer door panel with Damplifier. Then, use the Overkill on the inner panel to reduce road noise.
