Default Front speaker replacement help

I need to replace a blown front door speaker with my stock monsoon unit. I have searched for aftermarket speaker part numbers and have seen Alpine SPS-170A a lot but it does not seem to be available anymore. Can anyone recommend a speaker that is under 150 for a pair I can use? Plan B will be just to order a stock replacement one online.
Please help with plan "A"

I am using Pioneer 6 1/2" 4 ways in my doors. Only about $70 for the pair and you can get them at Wal-Mart.

The Infinity Reference and Kappa series are 2ohms and run around $150 or less. Worth checking out I think.

Thanks guys. I ending up getting the Alpine SPS-17C2. Used the directions in the FAQ sticky about replacing door speakers and worked just fine. They made more sence when I had the speakers sitting in front of me to look at.

I need to replace my fronts too (I have the Alpines ordered). Do those speaker grills on the doors pop off or do you have to take the whole door panel off?

The speaker grilles pop off yes, but you cannot access the outer perimeter of the speaker where the screws are.

Won't "pop" off without literally popping plastic usually. Take the doors off, look at the tabs that hold the grille in place -- and you will see it's usually impossible to take off front the front side without cracking the grille.

Actually I have done this many times. I usually take my thumb on one side of the grille and my fingers on the other side and lightly squeeze it and pull out. Never broken one like this. I have broken many plastic things on these cars but speaker grille is not one of them.

The grills will pop right off on most Trans Ams...however...this is NOT how you get the speakers out. You HAVE to take the panel off which takes all of 5-10 minutes. If you attempt to take the speakers out through the opening in the panel you will ruin your panels.

Quick question and don't mean to but why is this Alpine so popular? I realize it must sound well but many speakers do.

I plan on going with Kappas. Check out "Audio-Club" on ebay. I was looking through there and found some pretty good prices on speakers!

The Alpine speakers are particularly easy to modify so that the coax becomes separate components which makes them wire up to the Monsoon more like stock.

Gotcha. I don't have the Monsoon so I guess that's why it never applied to me.

OK. I went out and looked at my door panel to remove it and start the speaker install, and I can find four screws, two large screws @ the arm rest and two smaller screws holding the piece the window switch is attached to. I guess there are some sort of clips holding the things on. And I guess the door lock & electric switches have to come off first.

I don't want break things, so would someone who has removed the door panels from a Camaro (mine is an '02), please tell me how they are properly removed? If I had been able to get the panels off in 5 - 10 minutes, I'd be finished now.
