Im bidding on one from ebay, i've heard about needing some kinda code and taking it to the dealer....can anyone explain better? (Will the dealer charge $?) Also will I need any wires or can I use the wires that are already in my car hooked up to my factory cassette player?

You're thinking of the TheftLock system - a system that allows the owner to set up a numeric code that is required to unlock the head unit if power is removed (battery disconnected or unit stolen). Most owners never bother to activate this feature but you should check with the seller that it isn't on this unit.
Even if it is, instructions for deactivating it are in the Monsoon FAQ sticky at the top of the forum.
All standard GM/Delco 1.5DIN head units from 88 through 02 use the same wiring harness. The CD player will plug right in.
