Default Tachometer Problem

I have the 8cyl tach from cyberdyne I should have got the 4 cyl I guess because its acurate but its readings are divided by 2. There is no adjustment for this on the tach just an adjustment for the leds. I understand that tachs read our engines like 4 cyl engines but is there any way around this problem. They dont make this particular tach anymore and I got it second handed never installed before me. I tapped the #10 wire from the pcm. In 12volt they say something about tapping a wire from the coilpacks or the injector wires.
Help

Thanks,
