Default Dead Sub

Hey guys, my sub stopped working the other day and I'm completely baffled. I've checked all of the connections and they seem fine. The fuse near the battery is intact as well. Any ideas on how to trouble shoot the amp or the sub itself? The amp (dont laugh) is an American Legacy LA590 and the sub (try even harder to hold back the laughs) is a Performance Teknique ICBM-5912. I'd like to get this issue resolved before Saturday so if you guys have any ideas pleas throw them my way.

If it makes any difference the first time I noticed it had stopped was on a pretty hot day. I had thought the amp may have overheated but figured once the temp got back down it would start working again.

maybe amps completely fried if its not leaving protection mode like before -- check all fuses first, check sub resistance to check if blown -- if possible, try new amp in YOUR car, or see if the amp will power any other spare speaker in your car... open up amp and look for blown FETs... etc -- check resistance of speaker terminal channel -- zero = bad

Thanks, I'm leaning towards it being the amp. the lil remote bass control I have in my center console for the amp doesnt even light up anymore.

when those transistors in that amp get hot-really hot-they will blow. you can test them and replace them if you have the knowledge. but if its a cheap amp its proabably not worth it.
for advise. on a HOTTTT day dont be banging the block with that sub. and if it starts to like break in and out turn it off and let the amp cool down.
Or BLAST THE Air Conditioning
hope this helps in the future
also check to make sure you have 12v getting to amp and your ground is ok

well it was pretty hot out that day but i wasnt blasting the music. I just turned on the radio and the sub didnt even turn on regular volume and all (still able to talk to people in the back seat). I'm gonna go pull the amp apart and see what the insides look like. What do blown transistors look like?
