Default Need help again

Got help on this topic last time, but I'm not realy electronic "literate" so searching has just yielded more questions and was wondering if anybody could help. I've been running a stealthbox with a 10" JL 10w3 for a few months and a DUAL xia 2460 460 watt amp and blew the sub the other night. I don't wanna spend alot of money and would like to continue using that amp because I got it for free, but need another 10 to replace the blown one and may end up adding another one in a passenger side stealthbox. I have a few questions though. First one is if I buy a passenger side stealthbox, do I just cut out the area for the box on the plastic cover that goes over the spare tire well?? I'm trying to find a 10" that will hit pretty hard and sound decent for a good price, I was thinking about either a kicker comp CVR or CVX, which one is better and why?? Should I get 4 ohm subs and if so could I hook two subs up to one channel on the amp?? The specs on the amp say 300 wattx1 @ 4ohms, but I didn't know if having two 10's I'd have to run one per channel, or both on the same. Will that amp be enough to power two 10's?? Is it worth it to buy 2 10's and which ones?? I want a nice sounding, pretty hard hitting system without having to blow the bank on 2 12's at the moment. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Which 10W3 do you have? The type of subwoofer it is (dual 2 ohn voicecoil, single 4 ohm, etc.) makes a difference on how two of them need to be wired together. (series, paralell, etc.) Should you wire two subs to the bridged (300w) output of the amp, you will have to wire the subs so they present a 4 ohm load to the amp. Heres the manual for your sub:

http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/10W3v2_MAN.pdf

There are wiring diagrams in there to tell you how to wire both to the amplifier.

For the DUAL xi2460 amp which would be the best, a 2 ohm or 4 ohm load?? Say I'm starting from scratch with the subs, how would I wire two 10's to get the most punch out of just that amp?? Thanks for the replies so far, PMed you back Ian.

That amp is capable of:

100 watts RMS X 2 channels (4 ohm load per channel)
145 watts RMS X 2 channels (2 ohm load per channel)
300 watts RMS X 1 channel (4 ohm load) [bridged]

So to get the most out of that amplifier, you want to wire both subwoofers in a configuration that presents a single 4 ohm load to the amp. Then, you can wire it in bridged mode. That amp will then put out 300 watts RMS. For more information on series/parelell wiring, see JL audio's sheet HERE and to learn more info, go see the series vs. paralell section at the Basic Car Audio Education website HERE
