I've got a pretty decent rattle sound going on in my passenger door speaker. I can't figure out how to get the little piece of plastic covering the speaker off without mangling the thing. I got the tabs on the side off, but the top and bottom taps are different, and now almost broken. I was going to take the whole damn trim piece off, but according to my book that is a huge job (it says the mirrors need to be taken off). So, basically I can't really get a good look at it.
It sounds like a rattling, but when I press down on the speaker and the speaker housing it is still there. Is it possible that it's just a broken speaker? It doesn't seem to get too much worse with more volume, but as the bass goes up it gets a lot worse. Also, is there an easy way to just disconnect that one speaker temporarely? I've got a roadtrip this weekend and don't want to listen to that the whole time.

Are you talking about the speaker grille? Correct way is to remove the door panel and do it from the inside. It's not hard, look at one of the window motor replacement guides.
