Default tach install need help!!!

i just got my auto meter tach and planing to hook it up. the only thing i know is that the pin #10 which is the white wire. this tach has 4 different wire. plus it has the brown wire for 4 cyl., and the orange for 6 cyl. do i need to know anything else before installing this tach.. thanks.

cut the brown and orange loops on the back of the tach to put in 4cyl mode. I think its the green wire that goes to the pin 10, the orange wire is dimmer, the red is switched power and the other one is ground.
