Alternator Failing?

Alternator Failing? My voltmeter on the dash shows a slight charge ever since I used the AC today. When I got to my stop, the engine sputtered then died. I turned off the AC and it ran fine. But barely a charge, sometimes it will go back to normal for a few minutes.
I just recently did a Heads & Cam Install and tuned it with LS1Edit.
Before I change the alternator. Is there anything else it might be?

Re: Alternator Failing? You can check to see if all the ground straps are attached to the back of the drivers side head. There should be 3 of them on 2 bolts. You can also check the thin red wire going to the alternator, I believe it controls the voltage regulator. I snapped this wire once it all hell broke loose.

Just checked the voltage. It is 12 volts. When I start the engine it goes up to 14 volts. So it seems like the alternator is fine. I checked the gauge again and now it is showing over 13 volts like it used to.
I am confused? Is it the alternator?

Re: Alternator Failing? Ok, this is confusing the hell out of me. Gauge now says about 11-12 volts. Measured at the battery with a volt-meter. Reads 13.7-14.0. With the AC and lights on. Drops to about 13.6. Is it still my alternator? Or the gauges?
