Push Button Ignition

How much would it cost and where do you get a automatic started for your car so you can just push a button and it turns on?

Detoxx03 01-18-2008 12:56 AM

I have one on mine and the alarm cost 300 and the install was about 200

conde'strans 01-18-2008 03:27 PM

I think he meant the feature where u push a button(like Ferraris have) and the car starts not the remote start alarm! I have a remote start alarm and would also like one of those push button start feature.

waldershrek 01-18-2008 03:30 PM

Yeah are you talking about push button start or remote start?

Gun5 01-18-2008 04:16 PM

talking about the corvette like starter?

Pro52R 01-18-2008 04:48 PM

Security & Remote Start

But hes not talking about the remote start. Hes talking about the push button starter...

If you're referring to a "remote starter", I would highly recommend the Viper 791xv....nice range, the remote has a paging feature to give you feedback indicating that the car started and the alarm works like a charm.

As for "push button ignition", I don't know how much it would cost to accomplish this in an f-body.

Push button ignition.

Thanks for the replys guys

Spd-Kilz 01-18-2008 11:41 PM

A push button one isn't too hard to do.

http://www.pitreweb.com/s2000sw.htm

It will probably cost around $75 bucks all said and done. Most people are using an S2000 starter button off ebay.

Hope this helps

Thanks guys but im talking about the one that is attached to your keys so as your walking to your car you push a button and it turns on.

Sorry for the unclarification.

That's called a remote start alarm! Not a push button ignition! It'll run you bout $300+ installed.

DBEST369 01-19-2008 10:23 PM

i want a remote start on my M6 :(

araber89 01-20-2008 12:21 AM

$300 bucks or get off my ass, freeze a little, get some exercise, and start my car. Or sit in the parking lot just listening to it while it warms up. I really don't see the need for one. Especially if you start it while walking to your car. Just sit there 30 seconds longer than normal. Personally I would go the route of putting your 300 under the hood. Just my opinion.

well you could do it but it would be more of a pain in the ass than a luxury imo. i had the option and opted not to because i just dont want to deal with the hassle.

97 FiReBiRd 01-20-2008 01:42 AM

can u do that?

DBL_TKE 01-20-2008 01:51 AM

if I'm not mistaken it wouldn't be any different on and automatic car or a manual transmission car. Just don't leave it in gear...

remote start on a M6=bad idea. You'll have to rewire the circuit on the clutch pedal so you can start it without pushing in the clutch. And what happens if you leave it in gear and try the remote start? Would it lurch forward? Or stall, or even turn over????
