Red Top battery

I have an Optima red top and am going to hook up my power wire for an Amp. Since the front mounting screw is too short can I just hook it up to the top post while still using the front screw for everything else.

yes that works, they also make special terminals to mount it on front

you will be fine, just get a top post terminal.
