2004 Corvette... Tape Player?!
Wow. I had no idea that a tape player was still available in Corvette as late as 2004.
My question is, do the C5s with a tape player up front have some sort of CD changer located elsewhere, similar to the F-bodies? I just can’t imagine a 2004 vette not having a CD player somewhere from the factory.
Also, I’m not at all familiar with the audio system in the C5. I’m guessing its Bose. Can the tape player just be swapped out with a factory CD player without any other mods on a C5?

Yes, it is Bose and it is a direct swap for another Corvette head unit since they were all Bose. It won't swap with a head unit out of another GM model such as an f-body because it uses low-level signal directed through a separate Bose signal processor to amplified speakers.
If you have the optional changer it will be in the center storage compartment in the back.
