Speaker replacement question
Heres what I plan to use: CDT component speakers....what size will fit my car on this page http://www.keeaudio.com/id47.html
CDT Midbass Driver EF-6 (CL-E6) 6.5"
Now to my question. If I plan to get an aftermarket amp, a stealth sub, and an aftermarket amp, would these speakers still sound good? Or would I have to buy new speakers when I do the rest of the system?
In fact I put those same speakers in a clients car (02 T/A) not long ago and he still had stock sail panel subs. The problem we ran into was that the subs now sounded like garbage compared to the CDT drivers in the doors. We'll be fixing that with some new subs soon as I get my new order in.
As I've stated before the Monsoon amp is not that bad....it's just fed a distorted signal from the stock HU so it amplies what it is given. Put a quality HU in place you are now amplifying a cleaner signal. Combine that with better quality speakers and you are now able to take advantage of that cleaner amplified signal. Add the stealth sub to round out the low end bass and you have a well rounded system that sounds good at high volume while still retaining the stock amp and wiring.
The speakers (CL-E6) are more than up to the task of aftermarket amplification. They work well with the stock system but really shine with a quality aftermarket amp. They have features like a carbon treated cone structure, cast frame (not stamped), rubber surround, 26mm voice coil, ceramic 14.6oz. magnet and of course CDT's Contoured Dispersion Technology that is engineered into every speaker. Here's what it means at the bottom of the page in this link:
