Component wiring
I did not buy $10 dollar subs comparable to jl's, and no I am not an idiot. I sold and installed car stereo all throught high school. What I meant was that for $10, you really can't beat the subs I bought off of ebay and I have no idea who they are made by. The wattage, and resistance matched up very well to the stock amp. I'm not one of those guys that swaps the factory subs out to 600 watt max pos junkers from Joe blows stereo shack and says wtf when they don't make any noise or sound like junk. I dont know what x-max or faraday rings are, but instead of being a jerk, maybe you could inform me and others users so that we can know for the future.
BTW- I have spent $1,100 on a pair of speakers, kicker ss components, and $1200 for a kicker solo x 18 sub powered by two of kickers surf board, 2500 rms amps for $1100 a piece for my superbee and I will never do it again. My $50 front door speakers and my $10 subs in my TA sound good enough for me, and I just can't hear the difference over the exhaust and wind noise.
for what its worth, faraday rings are made of copper and are essentially the same things as copper caps, both go between the voice coil of the speaker (wire coil) and the magnet. they are both used to eliminate induced EMFs (from a moving coil of wire in a magnetic field) and to linearize the magnetic field in the area that it really counts (in the gap).
you dont have to have these to have decent sounding speakers, but most of the high ends do. if you are happy with $10 spent, then there isnt any better way to go.
