Default Help with Speakers in 96 Bird

I have a 96 Firebird Formula that has the pre-Monsoon 10 speaker system. I want to replace all my speakers and add a 10" sub in the rear.

I have an Alpine Ipod Player and already replaced the front components with Memphis Power Reference components. Well the speakers don't sound clear, and the sound shop that helped me get them working told me to wire them up a specific way and I dont think that was right.

I took the wires coming from the main speaker and hooked them into the crossover and then went to the midbass and the tweeter. Is this right?

Also, I want to replace all the speakers, what should I replace the sail panel speakers and the rear speakers with? Now what if I use an aftermarket 4 channel amp??

Thanks guys, I don't know much about stereo stuff.

It's not that nobody has done it. It's because everything is probably thinking that you should do a search first.

And I tried searching but really didn't find anything. I just want to know how to hook them up and what I should do if I run an aftermarket amp.I have searched and read for the past month or so and really haven't found anything useful for me.

You do not have them wired right. The only way to do this with a stock system is to wire the midbass wires directly to the midbass and the seperate tweeter wires can either be ran to the tweeter and use the stock crossover OR cut the stock crossover out and wire it to the Memphis crossover and then to the tweeter. This would sound better then the way you have it wired currently.
Use of a 4-channel amp is your best option though. If you use a 4-channel you can use whatever you want for speakers in the sails at that point because you would then get full range sound from that location so it's up to you basically as far as your listening preference.
Another option would be to use the 4-channel to power your door components and the rear channels to run a stealth enclosure. This would probably be the best bang for the buck and yield the best sound.

What I am thinking about doing now is getting a 4 channel and a 1 channel amp. The single channel will be for the sub of course. I was thinking a 300x1 for a 10" Memphis M class sub. Then the 4 channel would be a 200x4 to power the front components and the sail speakers. But the question is, how do I wire the 4 channel to power the 4x6's in the rear?

BTW thanks, KEE, that is probably the best advice I have gotten from ANYONE.
