Problems with stereo/wiring Hi everyone. I was hoping someone could help me with this problem:
I have a 97 Z28 and I am having trouble with some wiring (I think), or who knows what. My stereo will turn off randomly and then randomly turn on again. I noticed that when it turns off my power windows stop working as well. Sometimes if I open and close the door or tap on the side of the dash it will start working again just to turn off in a few seconds most of the time, and then possibly on again... It also sometimes goes off when I shift. I know there is nothing wrong with the stereo because this problem began since I had the stock stereo. I installed a Pioneer and the same problem continued. What's even more odd is that sometimes it will be fine for a few days straight and then it'll go wrong again. Yeah, so thanks for the help in advance.

You need to perform a "wiggle test". Start wiggleing wires till you can get the HU to cut off. May take some time too. You have a bad wire in a harness somewhere. These kind of problems can be a real bear to track down.

Don't think there are any common fuses with windows and radio. They do share a ground under the left kick panel. Sounds to me like it's either that ground, or a few loose connections at the fuse panel on the left side of the dash.
