Full range or Components for my system?
Problem is I can't find the right speakers for the sail panels, I had some full range pioneers but the cone sounds blown, I guess 'cause they couldn't take the bass?,
I don't want more bass from the sail panels, got plenty for me from the 10"s I just want some mids and highs.
that's why I thought maybe some full range speakers 'cause the components will just give me more highs and bass?
pat
in all reality, you don't really need any speakers in the sail panels or the hatch area (especially not in the hatch area) in order to get good sound.
i'm running a single 6.5" component set up front on 75watts each in the doors and a single 10" sub in the hatch on 200watts, and it sounds great. there's no speakers behind you to draw your soundstage away from the front.
i used to have the front speakers on only 50watts, and they weren't loud enough, but when i went up to 75watts, it was like night & day. granted, it's not a system that you're going to hear from 2 miles away, but that was not my intent in the first place. i wanted something that was really clean and could be heard over the engine and wind noise at highway speeds, and it does that & more.
if your front speakers can handle the power, i'd just wire that 4-channel amp into two channels to drive the two front speakers (or component sets), and you'll get plenty volume out of them, and have a better soundstage in the process.
