Question about a head unit
Question about a head unit I was working on a customer's car, come to think of it I can't remember what it was, not even the color... but it had a Kenwood CD receiver, and the chick said it wouldn't work so I took a look at it for her. Checked the fuse, the diagram called for a 5 amp fuse but there was a 25a in there. 
I took that sucker out and put in a 5a and it worked just fine. Took me 1 min of work and a $0.05 fuse so I figured the boss wouldn't be too mad. Could I have hurt anything though by doing this, or why did the head unit not work in the first place... too much current?

No, a larger fuse allows more current to flow, it doesn't cause more current. The fuse was probably blown and you replaced it with a good one. You may have saved her from frying her HU or even starting a fire. The fuse must be the correct size to prevent excessive current from overheating and damaging wires or components. Having a 25-amp fuse in a 5-amp circuit basically provides no protection at all.
