I'm not really into the stereo systems, so I don't know the schematics of my Monsoon system or the electronics of it.
But my friend is trading his car in tomorrow and he offered me the system out of his car.
So bear in mind I have no knowledge of stereo systems, but I am willing to learn.
First question...
1. Does the Monsoon have preamp outputs?
2. If so, where on the back of the headunit?

Hey, If you haven't done the stereo thing a whole lot, stay away from it. It doesn't have preamps at all.
The stereo is pretty much useless unless you have the whole system. It has itz own amp in the back near the spare tire, and the speakers all have funky wiring, 2ohm stuff. He would have to gut his car to get all of the stuff for you to make it work.
I pulled my CD changer out to install in my girl's Cavalier, and it was the biggest PITA. I already installed a full on stereo, so I already had my car completely pulled apart, and it was still more trouble than it was worth.

I got a Kove Audio Refernce Series ZX500 amp, and two 12 inch subs, one Orion XTR and the other is a Sony Xplode [the other Orion got blown out <img src="images/icons/smile.gif" border="0"> ]. How do I get these two to work with my stock Monsoon head-unit/system??
Someone mentioned an OEM-1, by PAC? What exactly is this and how does it work?

Would anyone happen to know how much it could cost to upgrade the stereo system in a stock '99 TA WS6 to include dual subwoofers at the back with different bass level control, including MP3 CD compatability? Is it in the thousands?

Full standard upgrade:
Good Headunit $150-$200 installed
Good 6.5 Front Components $200-$300 installed to amp
Good 6.5 Rear Coaxials $100-$150 installed to amp
Good Box for dual 10's $150-$250
Good 10's $200-$300
Good 5 channel amp like the Kicker ZX700.5 $400-$500 installed
The whole rewiring is a PITA. Take it to a PRO shop. Circuit City/Best Buy will warranty the install for life as long as you have your receipt. But yes do your homework first on exactly what you want before you do this.
