Default VATS resistor ??????

ok my security light has came on few times, not lettin my car start once.. i havent drove the car since then cuz im scared to get out stuck some were.

instead of replaceing the cyclinder and everything.. figred id just put a resistor in the harness and by pass it, my ???? is wat resistor do i get.

i went to GM, he tested my key, and it was fine. my key it pallet 4 or w/e.. so on the chart of key ohms.

nominal is 887
low is 852
high is 942

i bought 3 diff resistors and put em together to equal 880, 2 330s and a 220. they were 1/4 watt 5% res. i put them in there and it didnt work.. maybe lose connection, unno.

i have no clue what im lookin for in resistors and ohms, blhblh.. a teacher on campus helped me out.

could some one help me out.. i wanna start driving my car more!!!

Sounds like the resister combo is ok. Did you disconect the key side before installing the resisters? If not your changing the ohm load when you put your key in.

Measure the total resistance of them again...are you sure they're soldered well? Are you sure you connected them to the correct wires?

Have you tested the starter to make sure it's ok too and that you're not just noticing normal startup behavior of the light now?

starter is fine.. i have the right wires also.. my elc teacher said that the resistor combo was fine. but when i wired them in it. i didnt solder them cuz i didnt know if it was correct so i think the connection was little lose. and also since it was a resistor combo i needed to wire them in a series and not parell.
