I'm going to install a new h/u only for my friend who has a '93 Z28 w/ the Bose system. I was wondering if there are any special things that have to be done since I noticed that the Bose systems are somewhat a PITA.
Please tell me anything about the old Bose units, as he will probably want to upgrade his system later on. TIA.

You need to get a Bose amp module for the car. I forget who makes it I think its PAC parts. Basically its a relay that tells the stock BOSE amps to turn on. Otherwise you gonna run all new speaker wire and you may need to get new speakers. I havent done a BOSE system GM in a while. Only thing is with the BOSE module everytime you change sources say CD to radio or turn it off theres gonna be a "thump" from the speakers caused by the amps turning on. Not bad for the speakers just something to be aware of.
