Looks like it has a built in amp as well. Just looking for a bit extra bass.

I connected 2 digital designs subs with a kicker 1000 watt amp to my stock deck in another car. The stereo sounded like absolute ****. The bass made everything rattle in a weird way, the actual factory speakers started to behave a bit different as well. What kind of "sound experience" can I expect with just adding a sub/amp to the factory headunit/10speaker stereo. thanks in advance.
I've used the Thunderform like that in other installs because the customer already had it. It will connect to any stock system but so will any other traditional set up with the pieces seperate. It is convenient that the amp is built into the enclosure however, the amp is weak and the sub is mediocre as were all the earlier model MTX 4500 series subwoofers which is what is in that enclosure. They've improved the current 4500 design but that sub is not available in the Thunderforms.
As stated by Pentavolvo you would do better by getting a seperate amp, enclosure and sub as the costs are very similar but the bass response is much better over the amped Thunderform. Even an unloaded Thunderform enclosure with a different sub and amp sounds much better. That was actually my first stealth set up in my T/A and bass response was excellent. At that time I was using a RF HX2 and a small 300watt RF amp. With the stock system in place it did well.
