1. Ill gotten gains

In the chance that you find yourself speeding while in Texas just make sure that you watch your speeding near New Braunfels. The town which is just outside San Antonio has taken a note out of Miami Vice and is utilizing a 2007 1,005 horsepower burnt orange Z06 that was seized during a drug raid. After perusing the New Braunfels Police Department's Facebook page, the car was taken along with some other vehicles, jewelry, guns, miscellaneous property and cash from a drug trafficker with Mexican cartel ties. All of that comes to a total valued at more than $1 million.

2. Agencies working together

The bust was made with the help of the DEA in the summer of 2011 and after the convictions were all handed down the hopped up C6 was delivered back to the NBPD. The department took one look at the car and started on the law enforcement modifications. First was bringing in a mechanic to fix any issues the car had followed up by a wrap and the installation of cop lights courtesy of the money that was seized in the raid.

3. So... like the Transformer?

After everything was said and done the NBPD decided something this special deserved a special name, and with that, Coptimus Prime was born. However, that name didn't come from the department it was bestowed on the car after a contest was held in the community to name the Z06. The gas needed to run the high-performance car comes from the city's General Fund, just the same as every other vehicle that is in the department's fleet.

4. Keep your eyes peeled for the sale

As crazy as it would be to see this car out and about chasing down speeders, sadly, the Vette will not be used in this manner. Instead, it will be used as a community outreach tool for parades, school-related activities, during National Night Out, and various other community events. The tenure with NBPD for the Z06 will last just two or three years before it is put up for auction. The funds from that auction will be used toward furthering community outreach programs, professional training and equipment purchases. Until then department spokesperson David Ferguson said during an interview that "I think it acts as sort of a driving billboard that says 'crime does not pay."
