So many Vettes

Corvettes at Carlisle caps off the summer taking place every year at the end of August in Pennslyvania. On display are more than five thousand Corvettes that range from the C1 to the C7 to gander at but there are other things to do as well. For attendees who wish to have some vehicular fun, there is an autocross to compete in, burnout events where you can show off your tire shredding skills and a ginormous swapmeet where you can purchase some upgrades or tchotchkes. Among the established brands that were on hand brandishing their exhaust system wares for the power hungry were Borla and Magnaflow so you know this event is the real deal.

Something for everyone

The great thing about Corvettes at Carlisle is that you certainly do not have to have a Corvette in order to have fun at the event. If you are an automotive enthusiast or just a straight up fan of all things Chevy that packs a V8 you are going to have a great time. If you spend enough time walking around the grounds you are sure to find some true diamonds among the normal diamonds such as this Callaway LMGT that was raced at the 1997 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Buy a part, install a part

Remember when I mentioned that Borla and Magnaflow were present at the event? Well, also in the vendor area was a hefty hydraulic lift where you could have your new purchase installed so that you can ride home enjoying the new acquisition.

Vroom vroom

Chevy even made their official presence known at the event by bringing along the C7.R for guests to check out up close. Next to the racer was a demo engine so that eagle-eyed mechanically inclined folks can pick apart what changes were made to the engine over the stock powerplant. This 5.5-liter high-performance V8 has two big separate carbon fiber air boxes sitting on top of the engine in order to keep things cool. Inside the tent, there was also a 2018 Z06 Carbon 65 that you could poke around and press all the shiny buttons. Only 650 of these carbon fiber clad editions will be produced with a cornucopia of aero parts.

Waiting for some tlc

The first slide mentioned Corvettes being in all sorts of shape and here is an example of one that, well, isn't in the best of condition. This C1 husk barn find that was sold prior to the Carlisle meet for a cool ten grand to a buyer who will love the car back in existence.

Come August of next year, if you find yourself in the vicinity of Carlisle, check out this Corvette meet to end all Corvette meets.
