1. Releasing a GT4 vehicle under their Camaro line

Chevrolet has been in an almost constant competition with their peers in General Motors. This includes combating the advances of Ford in realms such as the racing GT4 category. The Camaro GT4.R will be designed to compete with these other competing GT4 vehicles in the market, primarily those from Ford and Porsche.

2. The GT4.R isn't the first GT4 spec Camaro

The Camaro GS and Z/28.R (from Camaro's fifth generation) adhered to GT4 specifications and competed globally. However, it's been a while since anything under the Chevy banner has vied for GT4 status. With recent impressive developments in the latest generation of Chevy Corvette, it wouldn't be surprising to see the latest Camaro absolutely killing it on GT4 circuits once it is unleashed.

3. Street-legal version is the ZL1 1LE

There's already a street version of the GT4.R. Called the ZL1, it's a monster of the road and looks like a race car as it is.  When the GT4 model is unleashed, we can only speculate how powerful it will be in contrast.

4. The racing firm Pratt & Miller

Chevrolet has enlisted the help of Pratt & Miller before with the previous CTSCC Camaro. The partnership obviously proved successful; not only was the CTSCC a technical marvel, the business collaboration must have been satisfactory as well.

5. An aggressive design aesthetic

The Camaro has earned something of a reputation as a modern-day muscle car. The aesthetic really suits it. Even from what we've seen of the street-legal ZL1, the design for these vehicles is practically brimming with power. It's not a wide stretch to imagine the vehicle will have the matching power to boot.

6. Open tournament options for Camaro

With the GT4.R at their disposal, Camaro will be able to compete in GT4 tournaments like IMSA Continental Tire Sportscar Challenge and World Challenge. Considering Camaro is already a heavyweight name in the racing community, this won't revolutionize the way the name is seen but it will further compound a legacy wholly deserved by the brand.

7. Amplifying Camaro's existing reputation

They're already known for racing brawn; that's a fact. But there's nothing stopping Camaro's reputation from extending further once they prove their current mettle in the GT4 sphere. With a stronger reputation, this will amplify the brand's worth in the eyes of Chevrolet, which will have the subsequent effect of receiving more resources and invested energy.

8. Camaro innovations will help the rest of Chevrolet

Whatever they accomplish and innovate with the GT4.R will be felt elsewhere in the Chevrolet brand. Once a company snatches hold of a tech achievement, it would be self-sabotaging to limit it to one brand. With that, an advance with GT4 could cross over and help other Chevy brands we know and love, like the Corvette.

9. We'll see the GT4.R in action soon

2017 will be the year the GTR.4 cuts its teeth on the competitive racetrack. When exactly, and where, we're not sure yet. No specific date has been given so far, but we've got high hopes for whenever the latest Camaro is ready to rip tarmac.
