Default Bolt-on LT1 in the 11's

Hey guys I headed out for some testing last night and was in the 11's from my initial pass on...

First pass 11.945 @ 114.43, with a headwind
1.640 60'
7.616 1/8
89.38 MPH
11.945 1/4
114.43 MPH

Second pass 11.947 @ 114.83, with the same headwind
1.637 60'
7.633 1/8
89.75 MPH
11.947 1/4
114.83 MPH

Third pass 11.912 @ 114.98, with the wind letting up and slower 60'
1.694 60'
7.610 1/8
90.10 MPH
11.912 1/4
114.98 MPH

Final pass of the night 11.860 @ 115.09, after it cooled off a little
1.639 60'
7.562 1/8
90.19 MPH
11.860 1/4
115.09 MPH

I will post up the slips after I get camera batteries, I was hoping to have vids of it but the camera died when my wife started recording the first pass...

Congrats John!! That is amazing. Is that the bolt on Lt1 record? What is your raceweight on that car now?

Later,

Matt

Hey Matt, how's it been?

No, I am really close to the bolt-on record though since it sits at 11.805, I will try again Friday night so who knows...

I also have a race on Saturday but it is a index class and I need to keep it at 12.0 for that class, but I may try an all out pass in one of my qualifying runs to see how it does in the noon day heat...

Cecil didn't have their scales open last night and the first time I will have a chance to weigh it will be on Saturday, but I expect the RW to be in the low 31xx range...

How are you trapping at 115mph in a bolt ons LT1? It just doesn't make sense to me. Is your car gutted?

I'm just curious how you accomplished this with just bolt ons, as the average bolt ons LT1 runs in the 13s full weight and in the low 100s for the trap. I don't see how you can drop over a second on the ET with just weight reduction. So what's your secret?

a race weight of 3020#... Do the math with that and you see the HP works out the same as every other bolt-on LT1, and I was around 12.5 in the 108 range before getting serious with weight reduction last year...

Why don't you just add HP instead of junking the car by ripping it apart with all the ridiculous weight reductions? Your destroying another bird.

First off do I come in here telling you who to date and how to sleep with them, NO, that because those are your choices and how you want to live your life. My choices and plans for my car are definitly different then yours, but thaty is my choice and I would ask you to not disrespect me or my choices...

BTW, it's not destroyed in any way, nothing but time and care go into all the things I do when ripping crap off the car, thats why it took me almost 2 months to do the brakes, MC, A-arms, and other weight reduction items and I skipped a few races to get it done rather then rush and mess something up. Hell I can tell you how every systems is setup, what wires are where and why because I spent weeks painstakenly tracing every wire and re-reading scematics to know what to pull out and what not to, it's no way a hack job...

:lmao: this is a Bolt On car, at a certain point there is no more HP to be had, so weight reduction becomes key.

I still say the LT1 can go 11.6s if someone is willing to put the work into it. And if you have went with LW brakes/etc you are doing the things that need to be done.
