1980 Firebird 12.1@118.5mph street tires
Today I ran at Maryland International Dragway to get a number out of my car. I ran it just the way it is on the street and didn't throw slicks on it. Tires are BFG TA KDW II's (275/40/18's in the rear) and I didn't mess with PSI. Stock stall with a TH350 and 3.08 posi. I had to take it easy out of the hole and as a result got crappy 60' times. This is the first time I've raced a car with this much power so to say I need practice is an understatement.
Here is my best time out of three runs:
R/T: -.009 (red light)
60': 2.150
330': 5.390
1/8: 7.985
MPH: 95.48
1000': 10.216
1/4: 12.116
MPH: 118.52
I will have a vid up soon enough. I really wanted to see what the car would trap and the ET wasn't as much of a concern for me. I'm setting the car up for autocross so this is probably the first and last time this year I will drag the car. It clearly has 11's in it on street tires with some practice and likely mid 11's on slicks IMHO. If I could put the power down the entire way from start to finish I think the car could trap 119mph. There is still power left in the motor with a couple little changes and the gearing hurts me because I'm shifting into high gear at the end of the track and it puts me way down low in the rpm range. Oh well, the trap speed is satisfactory for me as it's way more than I need for autocross but it's going to make it really fun going around turns with all that power ;-).
Power numbers are in my sig FWIW.

Nice! Pics? My buddy has a 79 Firebird and he wants to put the early 70's nose on it so I would love to see what that looks like.

heres a couple pics for him not the greatest mostly taken with other cars , I havent done much with it as it has an unknown internals 400 poncho 4x heads , headers ,edelbrock alum intake , double pump dual feed holley no idea whats inside lol I am assuming its a whopping 250 hp or so lol , its been off the road 8 years and needs attention to get it running right but car is like new underneath in all the places these cars rot up here so if its seen winter it wasnt many - I would like to ls swap it eventually so far the only thing swapped has been wheels lol I sold the turbo wheels since I hated them , put the 20" irocs on it so it could still roll then a buddy had to have them now its got the vette rallys but I want a set of the year one 17 honeycombs on it eventually.
