Default driveshaft broke in half at 120mph on the highway!!!!!!!

well guys, no time slips today. i was on my way to the dragstrip today when my driveshaft broke in half at about 120mph on the highway! it twisted in half right in the middle not at the u-joints. it bashed holes in all my floor pans and exhaust, tore off my e-brake cables, and bent my torque arm so bad that it pushed the torque arm through the driver side floor pan! my car is trashed. im pissed! this sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at least my trans and rearend are ok.

Mythbusters busted that myth, car wont flip over with the driveshaft breaking like that. It will just rip the rear end apart as well as everything else back there.

I appreciate the fact that they were able to demonstrate that on a given vehicle. I did not see that video.

Have you ever witnessed that happening? I have. Prior to aluminum driveshafts in 1982, in front of Mesquite High School on Belt Line Rd. at about 7:30 a.m.. 1972 Chevelle, 350 / 350 Cragars, BFG's... going about 25 mph and hit it. Frt u-joint snapped and the driveshaft hit a groove that was cut into the concrete. The *** end of the car came up very high. How high? I don't know but it does not matter, point is a driveshaft loop in that car would have prevented it from hitting the pavement. Imagine that happening at 120 mph...

I was there and I saw it.

Driveshaft loops and other safety devices make a difference. Don't ignore the benefits of those pieces guys!
