LS1 in a VW Bug
Has anyone done this? I really want to see some pics if so. I don't think I'll be taking on a project of this magnitude for a while, but being a part-bug fanatic, I'd really like to see how it would look!

That would definitely require some serious mods... would you be wanting to go with the motor in the rear somehow or up front? I've seen pictures of basically tube framed creations with BIG V-8's in them with a bug body on them... I've also seen the Porsche 911's with LS1's in them... but I bet that would be a serious biotch to get done. I am a bug person as well but have a 914 motor punched out to 2270cc with carbon fiber 911 cooling system and prepped for a turbo... if I ever get my Vehicross conversion done, I'm gonna get back to work on Hannah (my '78 German Look Super Beetle)... anyway... I'm off to the garage in a few... TTYL!

Wow, that sounds like a helluva engine ya got there! Do you have any pics? I was just looking at a 2135 for about $2k. Not too bad considering the extra power that would make!

I've seen a VW Bug with a 427 Big Block in the FRONT! The guy never stopped long enough to catch up with him at the show I just went to. He was driving it all over the place. I really wanted to get some pics but, never could catch up to him.
The car has Pennsylvania plates if anyone knows about this car let me know.

I found the site you need to look at. I would love to do something like this after seeing that Big Block Bug.

You can use an old front end drive system from a Oldsmobile Toronado or other FWD V8 from the 60s or 70s. I used a 425 BB Toronado motor and tranny out of 67 in a bug chassis before. It is basically a turbo 400 running under the motor with half shafts. With a LS1 turbo 400 kit you should be able to do it.
