Can you assure us they're better than the ones that twist and break before they're adequately tight? I went through two such fittings even knowing of their tendancy to break.

Threads are 12mm-1.5. This is the adaptert I used for my 1/8" NPT SPA temperature sending unit.

The note there to "drill out the I.D. of the adapter to accept your sender" was necessary and worked well.

I have a switch with 3/8 NPT...does anybody make a adapter for that ??
While we are on the subject...I know the coolant sensor goes in the drivers side front head, what goes in the passenger side rear head ?? A plug ??
I got my heads used & building a motor from scratch & what is the hole next to the cooling hole for ??

Not sure if I'm exactly on topic here, but if you are using an Autometer sender that comes with some of their gauge kits (which are too big to fit into their adapter......I'm assuming that is what you are referring to by saying you have to drill the 2277 adapter out) they make another sender that you can use with those gauges that fits directly into the adapter.
Autometer 2277 - 12x1.5 male x 1/8NPT -Adapter for LS -
Autometer 2259 - temp sender - short snout - fits the 2277 adapter
Autometer 2258 - temp sender - long snout - DOES NOT fit the 2277 adapter - (this one came with my gauges. I had to scrap it and buy the 2259 to make things fit).
Not sure if that helps.

Same here, drilled and tapped head for 3/8" NPT OBS truck sender, nothing to it as long as the engine is still out of the vehicle.I used the Equus adapter and a 1/8" NPT to 1/4 NPT fitting for the oil pressure.Even with buying the tap at the local tool store,I'm into it for about $25.

anyone else experiencing this with these adapaters used in the rear passenger head?
When first starting my car from dead cold, my temps will go up to 210 and then drop. I assume that is when the t-stat is fully opened. But, it only drops to 195-200. If I now shut it down, when starting back up, it will only be at 190-195. Not a big difference but seems odd to me.
