NA 416 High Compression Build - 2011 Camaro
Making a first thread for my build in process. I have a 2011 Camaro 2SS with a TR6060. Recently got my motor back from the machine shop and the goal is to reach some 9s in the 1/4.
LS3 Based 416
-Smeding 4'' Forged Crank
-Molnar Power Adder 6.125 Rods
-Custom JE Pistons w/ Gas Ports
-ARP Main and Rod Hardware
-GPI Custom Grind Cam
-Brodix BR7 Heads w/ PAC 1209x - 50cc Chamber
-15:1 SCR
-Holley Hi Ram w/ 1” Spacer
-Bosch 210 Injectors
-103mm TB
-2” Headers
-Meziere EWP
-Improved Racing Crank Scraper
-25% UDP
-Vararam CAI
Car is pretty light for a 5th gen. Going to see how it acts with E85 but going fuel cell as well and going to mess with some other fuels.

Thanks man. Last time I weighed it was 3750 with me inside but went to 15s, taking more out, probably kirkey and battery coming too before I get out to the track. Had a McLeod RST already but just got an aluminum flywheel for it, going to see how it treats me.

Thanks it’s appreciated. I hope I can make it to my goals. The Smeding crank is a 4340 piece that isn’t outsourced, they receive them directly from the foundry. So it’s not a rebrand or anything. I have some Johnson 2110Rs as well.

50cc heads! Were they flat or angle milled? Solid build.

You may have issues with the clutch but hopefully not!

Definitely keeping up with this thread. I'm getting ready to start on a new build for my sons car. 4.070 but keeping the CR around 12.5. It will have a Cam Motion LLSR setup though.
I haven't decided if I'm going square port or keep cathedral.
It's a 3 event car (AutoX, Roadrace, Drag race) so I like the cathedrals for the torque they produce.
My son is dead set on staying NA, so I'm quite sure I can squeeze well over 650 rwhp on gas and more if we go e85. This is also a street driven car and one of his things-to-do is Drag week.
His current engine already has so many things I'm gonna use in this block. Forged assembly with many personal touches, scraper, etc. All I need is pistons and rebalance. The 408 now is 10.8:1 and makes over 530/510rw on 93

FWIW - Speaking of McCloud RST's, in 2017 when my T/A got a RPM Transmission Magnum, RPM vetoed my idea of an RST. They'd seen RST's start slipping after a few hard launches by cars making ~550+ whp. They insisted the McCloud twin disc RXT would drive basically as well and hold up much much better.
I think this 416 will be too hot for a RST to hold up very long to hard launching.

You know what, it slipped my mind when I first read it but you're going to want to swap out those 2110r lifters. Not because they are not link bar'd but because they are not rated for the spring pressures of the PAC 1209x springs. I just had issues with mine. The previous owner of my car put those lifters and springs in and the springs were collapsing the lifters. Worth taking them out now instead of having to do it down the road.

This is why I dont think it will hold up. Vette guys were having trouble with it around 550-600 and hard launches at the track. Its not the components around the clutch, more so the clutch itself isn't able to handle the abuse. If the engine is still out, I'd replace the clutch with the RXT.

The Johnson ST2126LSR lifters. They are the only ones that say they are rated for 500+ lbs of spring pressure.

I posted something in the wrong section which was intended for this thread.
I hope your on a Diet (search Diet Coke on the forum)... same/similar car 640+ rwhp and a auto didn't get 9's at around 3300.
Build was a 427+ Ls3 14.5+ comp solid roller
ls7 small bore heads from tsp & high ram..
the gen 5 camaro really is a heavy chevy.
Great auto cross car at weight.. reference the optima challenge yr in and yr out.
