LS1 over 400rwhp target
hey all i have been reading the forum last two weeks as i now want to put over 400rwhp in my 98 ss A4. spent a lot of time on the forced induction forum however best way i think would be to start off with the cam as i have done quite a few bolt on mods already then add some SC maybe later on. have sent one of our internal engine sponsors a message as to what sort of package i will need in order to reach my target.
car is a daily driver so i will need a cam which can idle properly and be aggressive when need to be. please don't tell me to read the forum as i have done that already but seen million different setups for the same power level.
looking forward to hear your comments

just got a message fm Aaron at Texas speed, he says below;
stock converter
With no converter planned I would recommmend you look into our 224R camshaft on a 114LSA and our 2.5 LS6 cylinder heads. This setup would net you a very nice gain in sound and performance without sacrificing drivability.
aftermarket 3600rpm cnverter
If you go with a converter with a rating of around 3600 rpm I would recommend we step up to the Torquer V3. Power difference between the two would be within 15 horse, but the addition of the converter would completely change the attitude of the car. Total gains will be in the neighborhood of 80+ at the tires
comments pls

Do you have an aftermarket torque converter already? I didn't see it in your sig. Depending on what you want to do converter wise will somewhat dictate what you do cam wise. If you are definitely looking to do a SC later on you could look at our 228R cam on a 114 LSA. It has the chance to yield close to the power numbers you are looking for, it will require at least a 2800 stall though.

Texas Speed is correct, on a stock converter, I would not go bigger than 224 114 LSA cam. Even with 243 heads though, you will be short of your 400 hp goal. Been there and done that. I currently put down 430 hp in my A4 LS1 GTO with a TR 230/236 cam, ported 243 heads, FAST 90, 4" CAI, 100mm MAF, and 3200 rpm stall.

416 rwhp last time i dyno'd. Car could be a daily driver. But isnt. Modded are in my sig. Mayhem 2 cam package. I'm retuning soon as today im replacing my stock ls6 intake and tbody. The mayhem cam would require a converter. I have a 6speed. Keep in mind I have stick ls1 heads too. Car weighs 3210lb with me in it.
