reducing wieght on the gto
so what all can i take of the gto to make it as light as possible with no cuting or anything else, just on bolt and take off so it can go back on in the future.
im already taking off or out the rear seats, brace around gas tank, skid plate, v-brace under rear od car, spare tire and........................
.....anything else. tryn to make it light for drag strip no speech on safe or not, as long as the car can run i want the heavy **** off.

Id get at least a lightweight skidplate for under the car. Ive had my stock one hit the road before and its just a nice little bit of insurance.
Why not take out the passenger seat for the track thats well over 100lbs im sure. other than the stuff you listed and not going all out i think thats about it. you could take out carpet, panels, sound deadening, random plastic parts in engine bay.
But why not make more power to over come the weight

Looks like you've done a decent job already....find some light weight wheels. Stockers and many aftermarket ones weigh a ton
I think there are some carbon fiber/fiberglass hoods available
+1 on making more power. Might makes right.

Lightweight battery. Lightweight skid plate. Aftermarket exhaust system (headers, catless mids) also cuts down a fair bit of weight.
I second the wheels thought. Each corner of my car weighs over 50 lbs!

Once you get to that level, you start having to sacrifice weight for driveability and creature comforts.
A few things to consider:
- You'd be AMAZED at how much the factory carpet weighs. I've considered many times buying another carpet set, and somehow trying to cut the weight by losing or replacing the insulation.
- Gas weighs 8 lbs a gallon!
- Driver seat can go if you want to put in a stationary replacement. There are very tasteful race seats out there that could be bolted in quickly and shave at least 30-50 pounds.

Here are some things I did:
-Removed V brace (towing brace)
-Removed spare and tools.
-Removed fuel tank brace.
-Removed skid plate.
-Removed heat shields
-Catless mids, long tubes. Cat-back.
-Lighter wheels.
Thats a good 150+ pounds of weight saving there. spare and tools are 50 pounds alone.
Other things you can do:
-Remove the back seats
-Light weight battery
-Remove AC
-remove front passenger seat.
-If you are crazy, remove all panels (door panels, trunk liners, etc) and your radio.
-go on a diet, and dump your fat girlfriend.
Anything else I cant think of right now...
100 pounds = 10 hp Thats free HP!

i have also heard of people removing the heat shielding from under the car mostly if they are running without a catback
take everything out of your pockets before you run and take everything off your keychain lol jk but yea u guys pretty much hit everything
relocating the battery to the back with a lighter weight one will not only help shave a couple pounds it will also help you keep your wheels on the track

Get wheels for racing I personally am looking at holeshot wheels. If I remember correctly they are a 3 piece rim that only weigh 11lbs each and run around $325 each for a 15" rim.

Last year when I was at the track, I removed the spare, jack, and skid plate. This year I decided to reduce another 100 pounds. I'm reducing 56 pounds with lighter wheels and skinnier front tires. An Optima battery is a few pounds lighter than the stocker.
One thing I did today was remove the CD wallet I had stuffed under the seat, pulled all the CDs out of the console, cleaned out 3 years of oil change receipts, map, owner's manual, and other crap from the glove box. There was over 3 pounds of stuff when I weighed it.
