Vortec heads VS L98 Aluminum heads
whats the specs on both stock? which one is better? I found a complete L98 TPI taken from 'vette for 800$ it has Aluminum heads and I was thinking of swapping the heads with my current L98 TPI Camaro and convert it to carb with a set of Hedman LT,March pulleys,3.73s,tranny cooler with custom fan and timing gear what do you think? I might add CC 306 cam with dual springs and rockers

That TPI has no benefit over your current TPI. Those heads are some of the worst flowing heads GM ever built (but better than the "swirl port" TBI heads). Those heads have thin decks and are known to be crack prone over 450 hp. Also, you typically can't cut them for dual springs, you'll usually wind up hitting a water jacket.
I know all of this because I looked them up and I do own a set. You can run a K-Motion K-750 spring (130 on seat, 380 lbs open) on those heads (and I am currently doing so). I'm making about 400 FWHP with them, but I'd make a good bit more with other heads. $800 gets you pretty close to a set of edelbrocks (or anything else, all of which are an improvement over those heads).
The Vortec heads flow better and cost less. I'd use those first if I were doing it again.

The Vortec head design outflows the old alum. vette heads by a very large margin.
I built a hot-cammed Vortec 355 at the same time a friend of mine build his with the same Vette heads you have..
The only difference between the two engines was the heads, compression was identical.
I tuned both setups and mine was significantly stronger throughout the powerband.

I made 350rwhp on the motor through an auto with a 4000 stall useing stock vortec heads. They even out flow the bowtie heads out of the box, plus with the acc. bolted on you can't really tell them from your stockers.
