Default LED Interior Light Swap! 01 Camaro

Well I recently decided I wanted something other than the white interior lighting. So I did some research, got some good advice, and switched out my lights.

Not very hard, the hardest part was putting the brass contacts back in the ASR and Fog switches...

A nice guide for some info, not all relevant but still helpful.
http://www.keliente.com/LED.htm

The lights I used, can't link them, so I'll just give the specs.

For all of the switches I used these.
Code:
Color: Blue
Lens: 74
Type: Single Led
Quantity: 8
For the cluster I used these. I was hoping the dispersion would help prevent hot spots being to noticeable.
Code:
Type: T10 Wedge
Color: Blue
Lens: 194
Make: Super Wide
Quantity: 5
Sorry for the crappy pics, my camera is kinda eh. =\

Here is a pic of the cluster. Since I was taking it out to put lights in it, I put some white gauges and T/A bezel in there from www.specializedstainless.com Awesome product btw, easy as pie to install and looks awesome.
The coolest part is that "residual glow" effect is not from the camera. The needles even backdrop a little bit of red light back onto the face. Seriously cool looking.

Pic of the HVAC, Fog, ASR, and automatic shift indicator light area thing...or whatever it's called. That is the only one I can say I didn't like how it turned out. It lights up well first the first half but the back half is kinda dim.

Here is a pic of the whole thing, only part not included in the others was the headlight switch.

I don't think it turned out to bad, total cost was $55.78 for the LEDs after shipping and everything. Took about 2 hours to get them all in. Only reason it took that long was because the little brass contacts on the ASR and Fog switches where a pain, I didn't think about it till after, but I bet I could have put a little gun grease on them to keep them there while popping the switches back together. (I eneded up dropping them in and using a pick to move them into position)

But anyhow. Little info and pics for anyone thinking of doing the same thing.

i did the samething but went with the white so it would show the red warning zones. i had the same problem with the fog light switch but that was nothing once i did the headunit. i kept the stock monsoon headunit and changed the lights out in that to match. i dont think id ever do that again. the gauges just look so much better dont they? the stock lighting looks cheap now after doing the leds.

Looks pretty damn good. I love how in the base of the needs it looks like small flames are coming out of the circle. I'm pretty thats a camera effect though, haha.

Actually the coolest part is it's not. You actually get that red/blue light bleeding around them, it's sweet.

I can actually still see the red warning zones, they just come out a very dark purple instead of red, the camera just doesn't pick it up very well.

Thanks guys.

for the gauge cluster the led's were simply plug and play like they were for the hvac cluster right?

wait i went to the super bright leds.com link listed and according to them the bulbs you bought for the cluster looked like this. how did you put them on the dash

Yeah they are just plug and play, (194) they are easier than the HVAC as I had to break those to get them out. (no matter how hard I tried they just wouldn't come out, without breaking)

Well I didn't use that site, I suppose it wasn't to helpful to include that info as it wouldn't necessarily be good for any site. =\

Regarding getting the tinier bulbs out of the HVAC sockets. I tried using tape and wrapping it around the bulb tightly to have something to pull the bulb out with. I used something other than duct tape, but I think that would be the strongest grip. Anyway...Worked for me.

put a bag around the bulb and break it with pliers. then use a pic to get the rest out or if your lucky, you can then grab the leads inside the bulb with needle nose pliers and pull it out that way. just make sure the lights are off or you'll pop the fuse right away. ive never been able to get them out any other way.
