Default Touchin up polished stainless...

I have some polished Corsa exhaust tips that I want to touch up and get some scratches out before I put them on the car. The majority of the tip is in good shape except for a few areas. What would be a good sandpaper grit to start at, 1500 or 2000?

What do you use when you're done sanding to bring the shine back?
