blacked out firebird tailights
i want to see some of your blacked out tailights on any firebird lt1 or ls1 style, i tried searching for a thread but came up with nothing. I just want to get an idea of what my 96 black firebird would look like.

not to be an *** or anything to anyone with the covers, but they just don't look right. since that whole panel is normally flush, the covers really
stick out. i mean, if i can see them sticking out as good as i can see them in the pictures above, without even trying to notice it, i'm sure they
must be very noticeably in person.
either VHT them, or take them to a shop to get sprayed. you can get them done at the shop for around the same price as the covers. and VHT
only cost like $12 a can, plus a $5 can of clear coat.
I'm not fully blacked out, but I'll contribute some pics of mine... just the reverse lights done.

trust me, i like covers. they get the job done as far as blacking out the lights and they are very easy to use, and like you said, can be removed for
a stock look in seconds. i had them on my camaro until i accidentally broke one of them. the ONLY thing i have against them on firebirds is that they
dont sit flush.

i saw your thread. and i like what you did. but essentially, you did not use them as covers. you removed the original lens, and swapped it with the
covers- which is not how "covers" are used by the average person. so yours do sit flush.
so yours are an exception and cant really be used to argue against my point.
what you did was similar to what i was gonna try a while ago. to get clear tail light lenses, like LT1 lights, i was gonna remove the stock lens and try
to make a lexan mold replacement lens, and reattach that. similar to what you did, just with clear plastic instead of blacked out. but i never went
through with it...

I owned a Camaro that the previous owner had put covers on and removed. The taillights had large indentations in them because they had melted slightly. The covers, being black, had absorbed heat in direct sunlight and caused the taillights to melt.
I would use VHT.
I would use VHT.
