Finally did blue gauge and control lights
I know this isn't for everybody but I like it and it's something I don't see everyday, also it matches the head unit I just put in a lot better, overall turned out pretty good(I think) let me know what you all think (good or bad) if something would look better another way I would like ideas. The biggest issue I have is that there are hot spots on the gauge cluster and I will get an overlay soon.

Well I got camaro headlight switch and hvac controls used the front plate and blue led bulbs, the shifter blue led and very carefully scraped the red off of the back if you look you can see the numbers are bigger than normal(PITA), gauge cluster razor blade again to scrape red off of the back of it, the odometer is the thing that worried me the most since I havn't soldered for probably 10 years or more (took old led's off soldered some blue ones on, used a write up by ledgauges.com)

http://www.ledgauges.com/id26.html here's the link to the odometer write-up,
lights I forget they have 5 leds on each bulb base would have to search to find a list of the bulbs but I forget right now
Having a steady hand is what I was worried about I have always had problems working on small items but it turned out and worked the first time, hardest issue with it was how short the leads need to be to fit back in the odometer housing.
I have also been looking at 6le and I figure if the overlay has the shading on the back (to make the light even) of if it there shouldn't be hot spots but since I used the stock overlay when I scrapped the red off I also had to scrape the shading that was over the red tint

See I did the 5 led ones listed in the thread with all the part #'s you need. They don't leave hotspots, but they just aren't very bright. They dim properly, but they just go from dim as hell to not so dim. Maybe i'll try some high power smt's or something like that.

They look pretty good man! Congrats on having the cajones to do it! I've been debating doing my odometer too...but like you, i'm nervous, haha. but it came out great!
We found that with OUR overlays, the HP6 bulb works best. This is because there is no LED placed directly on top that MIGHT cause a hot spot. Instead, the light emitted from the LED's make a 360* pattern and that gives you all the light you need.
The HP5 below has a top mounted LED and we feel that that's what's been causing hot spots or soft lighting conditions. I've never heard anyone complain with the above LED's. They're also the ones i'm running in my car, 6LE's car and have installed in 5 other 6LE custom overlay cars. INCLUDING the cluster for a Dick Harrell car.
Jares99, Here's a link to my LED write up on 6LE's page. hope it helps a bit:
