Default Help! One of my chrome wheels looks like it's swirled!

So I'm cleaning my car today and decide I'll polish my wheels. I've always used some Mother's polish on ALL of my previous wheels and have never had any problems. Well, I start polishing one of my wheels, wipe it off, and... There's like a million really fine scratches that you can see when the light shines on it and it looks horrible! I tried waxing it and using some different chrome polish and it didn't help. How can I fix this??

You are not supposed to use metal polish on chromed wheels, they will scratch them like has happened with your wheels. I tested it on my chrome vette wheels in a small spot and sure enough they scratched them.

For chrome wheels, wash and wax, and you are set. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

If the chrome is scratched, there is no way to fix it besides redipping the rim. In other words have it replated.

Sorry thats a bummer.

If the scratches are really fine, you may be able to buff them out with a wheel buffer. Try using Flitz.

You can buy ut at hardware stores. Check around. Get the stuff that come in a tube. (Like Toothpaste). It works wonders...
