Modernizing T/A interior? (PICS)
Looking for some ideas to give the T/A interior a more "updated" modern look. While GM's overall design was never great for the interiors... the 4th gens are really starting to show their age. I'm looking to make a few simple updates that will still look factory and get rid of the whole " '92 grand am" appearance on the inside. Getting rid of all the grey ***** seems like a good place to start, and I was kicking around the idea of trying to find some more modern a/c vents to squeeze in the dash in place of the old slotted ones. Some rough Before/After ideas shown below.
Anybody with some additional ideas, chime in, whether it be some nice, clean looking aftermarket parts, or some OEM pieces from other models that might work. I'll make some more pics to see how any other ideas might look.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. An in-dash nav would be real slick. There's also one of those cheapo black "starter buttons" in the pic taking the place of the cig lighter, simply to get rid of the stock grey lighter and to keep it matching. There's a lot of a/c ***** that would look nice, it's going to require a few minutes of customizing, but should be simple.

I`d begin with a double DIN HU , nice wrapped bezel , billet A/C ***** were my choice but I like the ones you have there ..
door panel inserts , seats , led lights inside , custom gauge overlays , seats , lloys mats , wrapped dash and center console lid ?
I dont know I actually like the interiors , with a few mods , I think they can look pretty good ..

Yah, they come out nice, especially with the matching a/c plate. I hope they end up releasing the steering wheel adapter to use the 5th gen camaro wheels, etc.

Fixed. Little things here and there help, but the interior is still plagued by early 1990s design cues and materials. The heavy use of hard ABS plastic EVERYWHERE is only found in sub-$12k MSRP cars nowadays. Seats and a console lid alone aren't going to fix the problem.

I see , thanks ..
they do look good , but I still like the billet ones if you can find them.
however they will not look as `classy` as factory ones .. goodluck , share the progress.

Not sure what you were trying to convey with that response, but... At the very minimum, leather wrapping and/or padding most of the interior panels will go a long way towards modernizing the interior. Reshaping it completely is the best way to revitalize the interior. Just doing bits and pieces (even possibly leather wrapping the panels) will look just like that - bits and pieces tacked onto an overall interior design that had a 9 year lifespan.

I do like the look of it, it looks like my moms ford explore mixed with my T/A lol. but I do think you are on the right path. I would say dont get to extreme with it cause it can turn rice very quickly.
