Default Anyone have problems with HID fogs?

I finally sold my bike so i have a bit more to spend on my ws6. Im ordering the DDM HID Kit With Slim Ballast (Xenon) in 35W, 880 style, and 6000K color.

I just want to verify that these are the correct ones for a ws6 and if anyone has had any heat issues with them?

I currently have stock fog light/housings

Didn't care for the glare they produce in the fog light housings, but if you looking for a deal on a BLS Premium Kit see my for sale thread post #19 https://ls1tech.com/forums/parts-cla...off-parts.html

Thanks, im mostly concerned about heat or electrical issues, not so much the glare off of fog lights. Its rare when i use them on the street.

when I did try HID's in the fogs I ended up breaking one of the bulbs trying to seat it in the housing properly, maybe it was the brand (cheapo amazon zenex bulbs) the fog light circuit can handle the extra load of the hid ballasts with ease, the issue for some come with the heat from the bulbs melting the fog light housing, I didn't keep them in long enough to see that happen but have heard some say it did and some say it didn't.

While you guys talking about gig lights I have a question about my Camaro. I myself have seen problems with the ballast etc......
My question is do anybody out there make a bright *** bulb that I can just replace the current bulbs with? I want the HID look but not the HID problems......

Hids in fogs are good for about 6 months.

In the trans am fogs you will melt the back of the light bulb housing

In the camaro they worked great, but the camaro housings are just crap and the bulbs are a tight fit. The bulbs in mine rattled around against the housing and went out after 6 months.

And no there are no bright bulbs for the terrible camaro fog lights

Thanks for the answer. I hardly use mine, but dont want to worry about melting any part of the housing or replacing bulbs every 6 months.

I have fogs HIDs they're fine... only thing thats annoying is that when I turn them on, sometimes only one turns on and I have to turn the switch off and on again... i've heard that its due to the switch for some reason but I really don't know. I don't think it's my ballasts either. The headlights do the same thing sometimes (HID's also)

They are:
HID Xenon Headlight "Slim" Conversion Kit by Kensun, 880, 6000K - 2 Year Warranty

basically the top rated brand on Amazon .com that I saw. It was like $60 or so for the fog HID kit

Part of the problem is the right angle the bulb goes into the housing at. Bulb positioning in there is all kinds of bad for any good light output.

I've kicked around getting some aftermarket housings that actually do a good job, but then it is rare I would be driving the car in conditions that would warrant fogs.

Where did you get yours? I was under the impression that ddm tunning was one of the best places to get them

For camaro , a good quality hid kit in low beam is more than enough.

I'll be getting led 880 bulbs just so that fogs and headlights match.

I have HIDs in my DD fogs, and they appear to run cooler than the halogen bulbs (both 35w). After the HIDs are running for a few minutes, the lense is much cooler to the touch than halogens. Maybe 55w HIDs melt housing designed for 35w halogens (or whatever fbody stock fogs are)?

I put Cree LED bulbs in my foglights and they are super bright and will last for many years. Plus there's no ballast that can go out either.

I think that might be key. My stock halogens get really hot aswell. Im going to stick with 35W and hopefully i dont run into any issues

EDIT: the more i search on them the less convincing they sound now. Ive seen a trans am with Halos on the fog lights but cant find it anymore. Anyone here have those instead. Or even LEDs instead of HIDs?
