Default Krylon Fusion Satin or SEM Landau for radio bezel?

I have a DD Mods reworked stock radio bezel to fit a double-din HU. I just picked up another HU, and it's slightly oversized, so I had to enlarge the opening. As such, now the white color of the filler DD Mods uses is visible - the entire bezel needs a respray.

I've read that some folks have used satin Krylon fusion. That'd be great as it's like $6 a can and readily available. I've also read that SEM Landau black matches perfectly. Of course, then I've also read contradictory feedback on each saying that they doen't match.

Which would match my ebony interior the best? If I go with the Landau, is a satin clear coat necessary as well?

I just took on this project painting my metra double din bezel and have used both paints. The only Krylon Fusion Satin I could find was not the textured one mentioned in posts from years back but I figured I would give it a try. It came out to shinny for my taste, the black was also a little to dark, it did not look good at all. I then sanded down the bezel and bought the SEM Landau black from my local Sherwin Williams automotive store. I think it was $16. This paint must be applied in very light coating other wise it will lose its textured look. But once I was finished the SEM matched damn near perfect for my 2000 WS6. I would recommend the SEM over the Krylon. Hope this helps.

that absolutely helps, thanks! SEM it is!

Did you topcoat the SEM with one of their clears, or did you just leave the paint?

Spray it and that's it. It's more of a satin look. Clear over it and it'll be too glossy.

Sweet - thanks! I'll get some on order. Looks like Amazon prime has it for $14 and change. Probably the best price I'll find, and I'll have it in 2 days.

Keeping a more matte finish can also be finessed when you spray. Hold the can far away and make ALOT of light dust coats. Its how I added the fine texture back to my DD bezel.

Even though its a crappy pic you should be able to make out the texture that method leaves in this pic.

This is good info. My dd bezel looks a bit off so I think I'll be trying to coat it with the SEM too.
