Best aftermarket hood company?
Hello all,
I got enough $$$ for X-mas to get my WS6 hood for my 02 T/A. I was just wondering what your thoughts were on different brands. I have seen them from ramairhood.com, suncoastcreations, americansportscar.com, and WS6store.com. The last place is the cheapest but not gel coated. I dont know which one best. Please help based on your experiences. Thanks.

I got mine from ramairhood.com. Came primed and ready to paint. No fitment issues. Overall, very happy with the hood, but their customer service is horrible. If you can put up with them not answering emails/phone calls and such, it's a good deal. Here are pics:

ASCD (American Sports Car Design) I have owned 3 hoods from ASCD (97 WS6, 99 WS6, & 01 SS hood & Spoiler) no issues with fit or finish. If you can afford it go with OEM if not then ASCD IMHO is your next best bet. For pics of my SS hood and spoiler go here http://www.01pewterz28.cz28.com/hood.html for my 99 TA to see pics of the hood go here http://www.01pewterz28.cz28.com/99ta.html

Got one! got it off ebay from ASCD for $480! Can't wait until it is painted and mounted in probably 2-3 weeks! I'll show some pics and change my sig pic when its all done. Thanks Rex.

Hood came in yesterday! Arrived in perfect condition. Just went and had it test fitted before they paint it. Not a bad fit for not even playing around with the hinge. The paint shop said they hate glass hoods but this is the best one they have ever seen. Awesome quality. Should be ready to pick it up by friday or monday! I'll have some pics up when its all done.

Nice choice. I've seen alot of aftermarket hoods. ASCD so far is tops while Mecham is worst in quality supposedly. My Suncoast hood is bad quality, air pockets in the glass work causing me to have it painted twice, and the shop to repair it, the fit isn't that great, and their customer service is horrible. My car sat in a body shop for two months waiting on them to get me my hood when I was "next in line" at least twice a week. Stay away unless they just have a design you cant live without and no one else carries it.

Thought about getting the airbox. how much does that run? The guy quoted me $350 to paint the hood and bake it top & bottom. However, when it arrived he realized that the bottom does not need to be painted cause it appears to be metal and finished in black. I pick up the finished hood Monday so we will see if the price goes down. I got the hood for $480 of ebay and it is normally $795 on the ASCD website! Totoal when all is said and done im guessing the hood will cost me about $850.

Great price that is about right to be painted I had mine painted on the underside to match the top.
The airbox cost $70 from GM Partsdirect.com but you might be able to pick up a used on on the boards for half of that.
