whats up guys, just wanted to know the postive and negative effects of having a black car. I am undecided between black or silver. What should I get? Im leaning more towards black because my car is always going to be clean and I love the look of black (batman) when its clean. Just wanted to hear from owners. Thx

Black looks awesome right after you wax it. If you look at it wrong it's dirty again.

Silver is a dirty car's friend.

I have black, its nice when its clean, but hard to keep that way. If I had the choice, I would get the silver one.

Black looks the best when it is clean and the worst when it's dirty, imo. Silver will be easier to keep looking good.

I've had both. Well make that I HAVE both. I have a black GTP and a silver SS. The GP is a pain in the rear to keep clean but it does look nice after a good detail. However, with black waterspots are your worst nightmare, swirl marks, etc... everything shows! The silver is cake to take car of, and I think it looks pretty damn good.

So it really depends how often you feel like really detailing a car. Also how much patience you have doing so b/c the black will take a lot of it.

Pewter hides a lot of dirt, and looks really nice. Black looks sinister, but is a lot of work to keep clean and looking good. My '99 was pewter and my Softail is black.

I have two friends with black TA's and I also know another guy around me who has a silver one, and although the black does look nice clean and under street lights at night I would have to say I like the silver one better IMO. Shows dirt, scratches, swirl marks, etc. less and with some black decals for the Bird on the front and rear inserts possibly stripes and some tint I think the silver would look sweet. Either way my vote is silver

Ill just repeat what they all said. Black is the best looking color hands down when its clean. But once its dirty it looks like ****. But that is through my eyes and im really picky.

Here's another vote for black...and a vote for silver! Tough choice man.

If you don't mind and also have the time to keep up the black car free from swirls and dirt then go for it. I love black cars, but if that car has swirls then its pretty damn ugly to look at for me. I hate swirls...I wake up sweating from having horrible nightmares about swirls. My car is white so no worrys there but my truck is black and its a tough one at times especially when Im really not in the mood to clean in again and again and again.

Yeah, you think that, until you own a black car. You won't truly grasp it until you own one though. I've had one and I liked it when clean (and I always tried to keep it clean) but I am glad to have a different color now and I'll never go back. Personally, I'm really partial to silver, especially on F-Bodies. I was actually looking for a silver Z before I ended up buying my red one.
