Default Advise: Looking to get the SS hood painted to match the Manta design just need input

Hey all:

I am looking at getting my SS hood painted like the Manta stripe design. I went to a reputable paint shop and they said they would do it for $150.00 and that includes clear coat.

I have the Monterey Maroon metalic and was looking into doing it Black.

Just wanted some input from you all on what you thought and how it would look on my color.

Thanks

Price sounds about right based on what I have paid for paint work in the past.

The black would look nice...as would charcoal (or even metallic)...

I'd go with a gloss black that has just a hint of metallic flake in it. And the price sounds great to me.

watch out, cause we just did my new car, and we sanded with a scotch and a 1000 grit to prep. We wern't going to paint the whole hood, just the stripe, but when we started putting the clear on it, all the small rock chips in the hood made the clear bubble. So we ended up having to paint the whole hood and do it over. Just a warning. I don't know how good your paint is on your car, but if you have any imporfections, its probably going to do the same thing and it may end up costing you more money.

Mine looks pretty much exactly like Z28smokin's up there above me. I'll try to get some pics up too though.

black will look nice and subtle. If you want something to stand out more, maybe charcoal metallic or silver.
