Anyone have this problem with their gauges?
Not sure if I should post this in here but a lot of people have dealt with troubleshooting gauges, so here goes. Since I got my new motor installed, when I start the car, all the gauges do the full sweep like the corvettes. Cool, huh? Well, it would be if the trip odometer didn't reset each time. My radio stations/clock aren't reset though, so I don't think it's an issue with the battery (brand new). Anyone ever had this problem?

I have the same problem with mine. Not sure why it is doing it or what caused it. It didn't start happening until a few months after I installed a white guage face. I would love to know what is causing it and how to fix it.

When my AC Delco battery started dying it would do the full sweep and reset the trip gauge. I got rid of that battery and put in an Optima and it fixed the problem. It is either caused by a dead or low battery, or a loose gauge cluster. I'd charge the battery first, even if it isnt dead or low, just to see if it goes away.

I had an Optima and it died b/c my car was just sitting for months on end while it was being worked on. Now I have a brand new battery, it shouldn't be doing this to me. When I start the car it turns over almost without effort and I pull a great charge when running. I'll try charging it I suppose (if it takes a charge) or I'll see what's up with the cluster. I did just have some gauges installed into a pod, but not sure how those would affect the cluster.

I don't think the radio will reset even when you disconnect the battery. I would check for a bad connection, like a corroded cable. A good charge on the gauge when the car is running doesn't mean the battery is charged, but that the alternator is working good.

Mine just did this the other day. Hadn't started the car for a couple of weeks. It was cold out (Texas cold not Canada cold) The gauges did the sweep and the trip od. went to zero. Never happened in 5 1/2 years. Battery is a couple years old. Figuired it was just cold??

same thing has been happening to me in the cold MN/WI weather. Has happend 3 times now...not every time but sometimes. I have found that this seems to only be a problem on the 99 model cars.
