Default Why is my black paint brown??

On my hood, if you look at it in the right light, it looks brownish. I don't like it very much. What would cause this? Do I have to get it repainted?

I'm wondering if I polish it if you'll notice it as much.

Under certain lighting my WS6 hood looks brown, and according to several different LS1 sites, it's normal (I don't like it, but it's normal)

GM has always mixed brown in there black. It helps hides imperfections.

I never knew that.

Wonder how it helps hide perfections. If you painted part of the car regular black, would you be able to notice a difference?

good luck trying to find a "regular black"...as black is a mixture of all colors....it all depends on how much of the other colors on what your car will have a tint of....but as stated GM uses brown as a big tint to their black

My firebird and my 94 chevy pickup have a new black paint job on them. When sitting next to my 97 tahoe, or any factory gm black car, there is a noticable difference. I would compare it to having 2 extra coats of wax on the car.
